“Royal Arctic Line on top of the world with ZESTIA”

ntent Inline Small

All year-round Royal Arctic Line (hereinafter referred as “RAL”) provide the vital lifeline between Greenland and the rest of the world by exporting the fish caught in the seas around Greenland and importing the necessary supplies and delivering them to all the towns and settlements around the coast of Greenland.
For half the year the northern parts of Greenland are completely ice-bound and it is therefore essential these supplies are delivered before the onset of winter and in perfect condition. Even during the summer months the North Atlantic Ocean is a treacherous place, in winter the conditions are atrocious, for RAL the transportation of these vital supplies must continue no matter what the weather.

It is therefore essential RAL have equipment that can be relied on to work in these arduous conditions and consume minimal amounts of power either on-board or on land.
For the past ten-years RAL has chosen Daikin’s LXE10E unit to equip their reefer containers, RAL were Daikin’s first European customer to take delivery of the LXE10E reefer unit back in 2002. Over these past ten years they have continued to purchase Daikin units and now has top share of RAL reefers operate with Daikin units.

During this time RAL has experienced the high reliability, easy operation and low power consumption, together with the excellent service support making the Daikin unit perfect for Royal Arctic’s operations at the “top of the world”.

In 2012 almost ten-years to the day, RAL will take delivery of their first Daikin ZESTIA reefer units and will once more be the first European customer to order and take delivery of Daikin’s latest reefer unit.

Esben Jakobsen, Equipment Manager at RAL commented:
“We choose Daikin ZESTIA simply because we expect the same high durability as on the Daikin LXE10E units. The lower power consumption is very important for RAL in order to reduce the CO2 emission and operational costs. With the current high fuel costs the Daikin ZESTIA will provide a vital contribution to our container fleet in reducing the freight costs to and from Greenland and enabling RAL to have more reefers on the terminals and ships with the same power installation”.

The basic design of the Daikin ZESTIA comes from the existing Daikin LXE10E model, ensuring that customers benefit from the same reliability, low maintenance requirements and ease of spare parts replacement.
The ZESTIA is a premium unit that is particularly suited for international operators requiring the highest levels of cooling performance, temperature precision and low energy consumption.
